Neenah Neurosurgeon Research on Pediatric Spondolysthesis at Conference in Madrid, Spain

NEENAH, WI—(October 10, 2007). Neenah neurosurgeon, Dr. Sumon Bhattacharjee, a member of the Neuroscience Group of Northeast Wisconsin, is presenting a case study on complex pediatric spinal deformities, “L4-5 High Grade Spondolysthesis in the Skeletally Immature AP” at the International Congress on Early Onset Scoliosis and Growing Spine conference in Madrid, Spain. This presentation reports on research related to surgical methods for treating severe deformities in a youth. The study demonstrated better patient outcomes with the reported surgical interventions used by the researcher in performing intricate spine surgeries. The focus of the International Congress on Early Onset Scoliosis and Growing Spine (OCEOS) is to share research related to juvenile scoliosis surgical treatments. The Madrid, Spain meeting draws attendees from all over the world.

Philip A. Yazbak, MD, F.A.C.S., president of the Neuroscience Group of NE Wisconsin, noted, “Dr. Bhattacharjee was involved in research studies related to intricate spine surgeries during his fellowship in spinal deformities and reconstructive surgery at the University of Virginia. The Northeast Wisconsin region is fortunate to have a surgeon with his training and research experience in our community so that our pediatric and older patients with spinal deformities and other spinal conditions can receive high-quality, compassionate care right in our community.”
