Neenah Neurosurgeon Presents Research on Spinal Tumor Surgery at Conference in Istanbul NEENAH, WI—(May 10, 2006). Neenah neurosurgeon, Dr. Sumon Bhattacharjee, a member of the Neuroscience Group of Northeast Wisconsin, is serving on a distinguished panel of neurosurgeons at the European Scoliosis Research Society Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey The presentation is titled “Posterior Extracavitary Approach for Anterior Column Reconstruction for Spinal Tumors. ” Other members of the panel include Vincent Arlart, MD, Francis Shen, MD, Christopher Shaffrey, MD from the department of Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia. This presentation reports on research related to surgical methods used to remove spinal tumors. The study demonstrated better patient outcomes with the reported surgical interventions used by the researchers in performing intricate spine surgeries. The Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) is an international society that was founded in 1966 with 35 members. It has gained recognition as one of the world's premier spine societies. The SRS is committed to research and education in the field of spinal deformities. Current membership includes over 800 of the world's leading spine surgeons, researchers, physician assistants and orthotists who are involved in research and treatment of spinal deformities.
