Neuroscience Group Augments Therapy Services

NEENAH, WI—(March 8, 2007) Kim Karrmann, PT has joined the Neuroscience Group of NE Wisconsin as Lead Physical Therapist for the practice. Karrmann specializes in manual physical therapy for patients with acute and chronic head, neck and back pain. Through active manipulation of the bones, muscles, tendons, tissues and nerves this type of physical therapy provides an added dimension of care for a wide range of musculoskeletal and nerve conditions. Karrmann also provides manual therapy for patients with dizziness and vestibular dysfunction.

Dr. Steven Price, Neuroscience Group president, commented, “Under Kim Karrmann’s leadership, we will be better equipped to address the non-surgical needs of our patients with chronic pain that is not amenable to surgical interventions. I have referred a number of patients with migraine headaches for manual therapy and the results have been very satisfactory for these patients.” Margie Weiss, CEO noted, “ The Neuroscience Center, opening later in 2007, will provide a wellness-oriented therapy environment which will help to enhance our care of not only patients with chronic pain, but also those patients with movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and tremors. In addition, Kim brings to our practice a very proactive, health promotion perspective. She is also assuming a leadership role in promoting the health of our staff.”

Karrmann joins sixteen other professionals (nine physicians and 7 associate practitioners), dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate brain, spine and chronic pain care right here in our NE Wisconsin communities. The physicians, associate practitioners and therapists provide a wide spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical services as part of integrated neuroscience center care. The team approach to patient care improves the delivery of care and patient education. Services include surgical procedures for spine, brain and peripheral nervous system disorders, as well as care for patients with serious health care concerns like epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, headaches, non-surgical back and neck pain and multiple sclerosis. The Neuroscience Group of NE Wisconsin neurosurgeons cover trauma call in hospitals from Green Bay to Oshkosh.

Before joining the Neuroscience Group, Karrmann provided manual therapy services to Neuroscience Group patients through an affiliation with Osteopathic Medicine and Physical Therapy Group. Karrmann graduated from Marquette University, with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1992 and has had extensive training in manual treatment skills.

Karrmann commented, “My philosophy is that attentive manual care followed up with appropriate exercise prescription is the best approach for my patients. This approach is supported by the Neuroscience Group physicians and associate practitioners, dedicated professionals who understand the need to prevent and treat the most serious of neurological and neurosurgical needs in our NE Wisconsin communities”
